Top 25 Albums of the Decade

I was inspired by Emily’s post to create my own top 25 of the decade. I arrived at these choices first by thinking about my life over the past ten years. I found that the memories, both good and bad, always have some sort of soundtrack in the background. Once I had some albums in my head, I started writing down the ones that have stuck around or if they’re relatively new, will stick around. After that, it was pretty easy to weed out the less important albums in my life. I tried to put the top ten in some sort of order but it was impossible for 11 – 25.

  1. Neko Case – Canadian Amp (2001)
  2. The Hold Steady – Almost Killed Me (2004)
  3. Rilo Kiley – More Adventurous (2004)
  4. Mirah – You Think It’s Like This, But Really It’s Like This (2000)
  5. New Pornographers – Mass Romantic (2003)
  6. Exploding Hearts – Guitar Romantic (2003)
  7. The Unicorns – Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone? (2004)
  8. Postal Service – Give Up (2003)
  9. The Blow – Bonus Album (2002)
  10. She & Him – Volume One (2008)
  11. Animal Collective – Sung Tongs (2004)
  12. Los Campesinos – Hold on Now, Youngster… (2008)
  13. MIA – Arular (2005)
  14. Mirah – Advisory Committee (2002)
  15. Rufus Wainwright – Want One (2003)
  16. Of Montreal – Satanic Panic in the Attic (2004)
  17. Julieta Venegas – Limón y Sal (2006)
  18. Belle and Sebastian – Dear Catastrophe Waitress (2005)
  19. Neko Case – Blacklisted    (2002)
  20. Calexico – Feast of Wire (2003)
  21. Feist – Let it Die (2005)
  22. Solomon Burke – Don’t Give Up On Me (2002)
  23. Wilco – Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (2002)
  24. CocoRosie – La Maison de Mon Rêve (2004)
  25. Nicole Atkins – Neptune City (2007)

Now that I’m done I’m going to put Canadian Amp on the turntable and relax.
